Charleston/Columbia prog/punkers Thank God just got back from a successful tour of Japan and are set to play an album release show at Cumberland’s on Thurs. July 19 with Japanese band Deepslauter. “This will be their first show ever in the U.S and I really want it to be great,” says Thank God drummer Troy Thames, founder and co-exec of Tick Tock Records. Local keyboardist and music shop dude Bill Nance (of funk/R&B band Hot Sauce) finally put the final touches on a special event set for Sun. July 15 at Halligan’s Restaurant & Bar (3025 Ashley Town Center, 225.4347). “After much hair-pulling and teeth-gnashing, I’ve managed to get a schedule together for a Firemen’s Fund benefit,” Nance laughs. The all-day and all-night event features a slew of local groups, including River City Jazz, Hot Sauce, The Hed Shop Boys, the Kevin West Band, Modern Day Monks, Rik Cribb & The Problems, Plane Jane, TrickKnee, Joe Taylor Group, Sin County, Baby Fat, and Soul Fish.
