June 18, 2008 will mark one year from the day of the death of the Charleston Nine firefighters who perished in the fire at 1807 Savannah Highway, the former location of the Sofa Super Store. On Wednesday, June 18, there will be a Memorial Service at the Gaillard Auditorium at 10:00 AM to honor and remember the firefighters.  The service will last approximately one hour.  Seating will be limited in the auditorium and family and firefighters will be seated first. There will be a closed circuit TV set up in the Exhibition Hall of the Gaillard for any overflow attendance.

On the evening of June 18, there will be a private service for families of the fallen firefighters and City of Charleston firefighters at the site of the Sofa Super Store.

The evening ceremony will not be open to the public or media.
