Behind the Farmer’s Market in Marion Square Saturday, over 150 yogis dashed from up to down dog for Louie’s Kids seventh annual Yoga Marathon. The aim of the afternoon was to complete 108 sun salutations, with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit’s fight against childhood obesity.

Celbri-yogis, like gRAWnola creator Ken Immer, called out poses super fast to save participants from the midday heat. And in roughly 35 minutes, the mission was completed. More than a fundraiser, seeing community support from the Yoga Marathon encourages the kids in Louie’s Kids to keep losing weight.

But ironically, the best part of the event was the feast sponsors had planned after the marathon. O-Ku’s head chef Sean Park plated generous portions of specialty sushi rolls. Water and unlimited Lara Bars were provided by the Mt. Pleasant Whole Foods. And the Square Onion gave out samples of edamame salad, among other food.

Ladies from Homespun Hoops kept hips swerving with free lessons, while masseurs from Charleston Therapeutic Massage gave out back rubs. Just another Saturday at Marion Square. Life is hard for a Charleston yogi.
