What’s better than barbecue sauce slathered on some meat? A plate of ‘que followed with an ice-cold Cheerwine to wash it down.

This summer, Cheerwine is partnering with a handful of barbecue joints in the Carolinas for its annual Cheerwine Carolinas ‘Cue Tour, an 870-mile trek celebrating the Carolinas, barbecue and Cheerwine with offerings like Cheerwine-infused burnt ends and a bourbon and Cheerwine slushie.

“Cheerwine and barbecue together are known as the ‘southern handshake,’” said Cheerwine vice-president of marketing Joy Ritchie Harper. “In addition to being a refreshing sidekick to a plate of pulled pork, Cheerwine’s sweet cherry notes make it a perfect ingredient. Amatuer cooks to seasoned pit masters have incorporated Cheerwine into their smoked meats, barbecue sauces, sides and drinks for generations.”

The tour includes over a dozen stops in North Carolina and South Carolina, with three in Charleston at Melvin’s BBQ, Poogan’s Smokehouse and Swig & Swine.

Melvin’s BBQ will offer a Cheerwine float, Cheerwine praline sundae and a chicken sandwich with Cheerwine bacon jam while Swig & Swine will offer a Swine Wine cocktail with Cheerwine, strawberry moonshine and sparkling wine.

Cheerwine is also giving three fans the chance to win free barbecue at all 13 restaurants as part of this year’s Uniquely Southern Summer Contest.
