Just three days into service, Chef Edwin French has abruptly left The Americano. Co-owner John Adamson tells us the chef quit this morning, adding, “He said he was too stressed.”
On French’s public Facebook page, however, he wrote this afternoon, “Today, I left The Americano for health reasons that were out of my control. I wish them luck.” According to the chef’s LinkedIn page, French previously worked at Asheville’s Pack’s Tavern and The Century Room on the Park for four years.
Adamson has not named a successor for the role of executive chef, but judging by the 30 minute wait we experienced Tuesday night, French’s departure will likely do little to lessen the plantain-hungry crowds.
