We got word earlier this week that Chef Jason Houser is moving on from the post he has held at Muse since its initial opening. We caught up with owner Beth Ann Crane and she confirmed Houser’s departure.

“I think Jason wants to move on and eventually do his own thing, and I am happy that he will be able to do that,” she says.

Taking the helm will be Tom Egerton, a New England culinary Institue grad and former executive chef of Crane’s Tavern and Steakhouse on Hilton Head Island.

While sorry to see Houser go, Crane is looking forward to a bright at Muse.

“Tom opened our restaurant on Hilton Head and is someone with vast experiences, who will be able to create an atmosphere reverent of Jason’s creation with his own style.”

You can experience that new style during the weekend of the Charleston Wine and Food Festival when Muse hosts its own unaffiliated five-course Saturday night “dine around” with Sicilian winemaker Gunther DiGiovanna, a friend of Crane’s who will be here for the festival.
