On a recent Saturday, Charleston Wine + Food Festival Beverage Director Patrick Emerson, Leon’s and Jack Rudy Cocktail Co. owner Brooks Reitz, and Charlotte Voisey of William Grant & Sons hung out in a warehouse from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. sipping 25 different cocktails. Nice work if you can get it, huh? But this really was a job. The three taste-testers had the demanding work of determining the top four finalists for the 2015 Charleston Wine + Food Festival’s Mixology Competition.

And the finalists are:

Jeremiah Schenzel, The Cocktail Club

Kyle Degolyer, Poogan’s Porch

Megan Deschaine, 492

Chris Laine, Ice Box

Now these four bartenders will face-off at the Art in a Glass: Cocktails + Canvas event on Thurs. Jan. 22. There, one drink will be named the official cocktail of the 2015 festival, artist Jonathan Green’s festival poster titled “Loaded Rice Barge” will be unveiled, and you can taste test too.

Art in a Glass: Cocktails + Canvas is $50 and will take place from 5-7 p.m. at Republic Garden & Lounge. Tickets include cocktails, light hors d’oeuvres, and a 2015 Official Poster. For tickets, visit charlestonwineandfood.com/art-in-a-glass.
