Still flipping through the budget. Here are a few extras:
• The city’s annual grants to assistance programs has taken another hit this year. The grants reached a high of $533,000 in 2007, but fell to $486,000 last year. The 2009 budget provides just over $400,000 for programs like the Boys and Girls Club, Lowcountry AIDS Services, and the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry.
• The mayor’s announcement that he would be moving business development programs under the mayor’s office has not reduced the city’s investment in the program. In fact, the budget provides an additional $60,000 more than it was receiving as a seprate city department.
