N.Y.C.-based jazz/world guitarist and composer Clay Ross — a skillful musician formerly based in Charleston — heads back to the Lowcountry this month during his ninth annual "reunion tour" of the Carolinas.

In the last four years, Ross has submerged himself in Brazilian music as a member of Cyro Baptista’s renowned percussion ensemble Beat the Donkey. For this December jaunt, he welcomes drummer Adam Snow and bassist Kevin Hamilton to the Pour House stage on Sun. Dec. 20 for an 8 p.m. set of Latin-tinged jazz grooves and improv.

The gig also features a late-evening set by longtime Charleston jazz/improv combo Gradual Lean (drummer Quentin Baxter, guitarist Lee Barbour, and bassist Kevin Hamilton). Ross’ latest album, Matuto, incorporates a dynamic mix of musical styles.
