A three-day benefit event called CloverFest 2010 has taken shape, and it involves several local band reunion shows. Organized by local music podcast The Charleston Buzz (thecharlestonbuzz.com), the festival is a dual-purpose benefit project created to memorialize late Charleston musician Ryan Cargile (formerly of Kapone and In Reverie), who died last July at the age of 30.
Funds raised will aid in providing a secure college fund for his three-year-old daughter, Clover. “He was a very well respected musician and songwriter in the Charleston area, as is evident by the number of local, regional, and national acts that have requested to be a part of this project,” says Charleston Buzz’s Amy Hutto.
On Fri. March 26, the events kick off at the Music Farm with sets by Quench, Kapone, Double 0, Near Fatal Fall, and In Reverie. Two nights of rock follow at the Oasis Bar & Grill, with Unjust, Alswel, Bleed As One, Handgun Sonata, Etcetera, The Channels, Skwirlgrinda, and The 33’s on Sat. March 27, and Fair to Midland, Karnivool, and special guests on Sun. March 28. A compilation CD with all of the local artists is in the works as well.
