[image-3]The College of Charleston is establishing a scholarship in honor of Alison Piepmeier, who passed away last week after a six-year struggle with brain cancer. As a professor of English and women’s and gender studies at the college, Piepmeier created the women’s and gender studies major at CofC and directed the program for a decade.
According to the College of Charleston website, the Alison Piepmeier Scholarship will be awarded annually to a full-time student majoring or minoring in women’s and gender studies. Students who qualify for the scholarship must also demonstrate a record of feminist activism and leadership.
Those wishing to donate to the school’s Alison Piepmeier Scholarship can do so online here.
Alison’s funeral will take place on Fri., August 19, at 3:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Church in Charleston (4 Archdale St.). A reception will follow the service at the Church’s Gage Hall, which is next door to the Unitarian Church.
