This is the biggest comedy fest in the five-year history of the event if Wednesday’s tally is any indication. The festival is in effect two days ahead, selling as many tickets by mid-week as it did by the Friday of the 2007 festival (does that make any sense at all?). Given that it was a cold and wet night, it was a Wednesday and the economic is falling into the crapper, it must be said that the Comedy Fest is doing all right. On top all all that, the price of pizza at last night’s amateur contest went from $3 a slice to $2 to $1 by the end. As Kenny Z, host of the event, said: “We call that free in New York.” Good omens all ’round.
