Outside of all the Spoleto-related hooplah, there’s a big rock concert this weekend for local music fans to consider. Georgia-based acoustic rock songwriter Corey Smith — shares the bill with opener Shane Hines and the Trance at Daniel Island’s Family Circle Magazine Tennis Center‘s new Veranda on Saturday evening (May 23) at 7 p.m. “With Corey Smith’s distinctive live performance, pensive lyrics, and soulful Southern voice, this is a show you won’t want to miss,” says concert organizers.
In July 2008 Smith released a six-song EP recorded live at the Georgia Theatre in his adopted hometown of Athens, Ga. The collection includes fan favorites such as “Let Me Love You on a Backroad” and the notorious “F**k the Po Po.” Hines and his band are on the road behind a new EP titled The Glory Journal.
