The North Charleston Performing Arts Center has just announced that Dave Chappelle — yes, the comedian behind such no holds barred skits as the black white supremacist, Tyrone Biggums, and of course, the “I’m Rick James, bitch!” True Hollywood Story with Charlie Murphy — is coming to the North Charleston Performing Arts Center on Dec. 10. As in next Tuesday.
Chappelle hosted his Comedy Central program Chappelle’s Show for two seasons before jumping ship during the third season in 2005 and flying to South Africa. He later spoke about the pressures of fame and fortune which led him to give up what was (and still is — on Netflix, that is) a hugely popular sketch series.
This is just one of our personal favorite skits from Chappelle’s brief but glorious run on cable television. If you’ve seen it, you know it’s worth another look; if not, why then you should probably go purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka.
Tickets to Chappelle’s performance, which are $55, go on sale Thurs. Dec. 5 at noon on Ticketmaster.
UPDATE: Well, lookie what just dropped into our email! Just as TicketMaster is telling us the early show is almost sold out, Dave Chappelle has announced he will perform a second show on Tuesday at 10 p.m. Tickets are on sale right NOW. It’s a celebration!
