Attendants of the Jan. 24 Charleston premiere of Dear John enjoyed a night of Hollywood red-carpet glam while contributing to a good cause. The sold-out movie fundraiser raised approximately $100,000, with proceeds benefitting Carolina Autism, a local charity that serves autistic children and adults. Carolina Autism helped with the production of the film and introduced filmmakers to Braeden Reed, an autistic child actor who stars in the movie.
Dear John is the screen adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ bestselling novel and was filmed on location in Charleston. This past weekend, Dear John unseated Avatar as the No. 1 movie in America.
