Dwight Drake announced today that he is withdrawing from the governor’s race.
“I have ambitious ideas for getting our state back on track, and I have the knowledge and experience to put those ideas into action,” he said. “But a statewide campaign for office is not just about these things. It also requires resources – campaign dollars to run in a competitive primary and in a competitive general election.”
In a four man race, Drake was a longshot facing State Education Superintendent Jim Rex and State Sens. Vincent Sheheen and Robert Ford. Both Rex and Sheheen have spent the past week unveiling major endorsements.
