[image-1]Jim DeMint likes to call himself “The Grinch,” but now there’s actual polling data regarding that claim. A recent poll by Gallup found that the number of happy Americans hit a new low for 2008, falling to 35 percent, on Dec. 11 — a day of record jobless claims and the failure of the auto bailout in the Senate.
As more troubling news comes out about the mismanagment of the bank bailout money (which, it should be noted, DeMint also opposed), his scepticism on another bailout is more than reasonable. The problem is, while few had any real understanding of the impact of failing banks in the heat of the bailout, most Americans can see the writing on the wall if these car manufacturers fail. Oh, Mr. Grinch.
