The state Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) on Friday did not publish updated numbers of new infections, deaths and vaccinations related to COVID-19 due to a data issue. In recent weeks, it has missed routine reporting several times due to data or other issues.

“Due to issues with receipt of data charts into our system, DHEC is experiencing a data delay and is unable to provide the Feb. 11 update,” the agency wrote on Twitter Friday afternoon. “We’re working diligently to resolve this matter in time for the update on Feb. 14, at which point we would provide the backlogged data.”

The agency originally reported Friday that it was hoping to resolve the issue quickly, in hopes of publishing the numbers later that day. But eventually, the agency said the update would not come until Monday since its offices close over the weekend.

Officials with DHEC did not respond to requests for comment.

The City Paper will include Friday’s numbers alongside its Monday COVID-19 update.
