The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) introduced a vaccination dashboard last week displaying the demographics of individuals who have already received the vaccine. This tool is intended to make the process more transparent and ensure equal access to vaccines for all.

The organization acknowledged that the data would be slightly skewed right now as only certain people are qualified to be vaccinated (i.e. adults over the age of 65 and healthcare professionals).

Based on the current information, more white women aged 65 and older have been vaccinated than any other demographic group. Currently, 229,708 women over 65 received a vaccine while 177,535 men of the same age group have been vaccinated.

As vaccine rollout continue in the state, DHEC reported 779 new cases on Monday out of 23,892 individual results — a positive rate of 4.6%
