[image-1] Hundreds of guests wearing all-white will gather at a secret location for the fourth year in a row in our fair city next month. No, this is not a recreation of a scene from The Leftovers — this is Diner en Blanc, a classy, international fete that celebrates picnicking with pinkies out.
There are three ways to participate in the June 14th affair, which’ll cost ya just shy of $60 to attend (not counting whatever you pay for your picnic).
Phase one is for those who attended last year’s event, phase two is for new members referred by phase one attendees, and phase three is for people signed up on the waiting list. Phase one registration begins Mon. May 6, phase two is May 13, and you can register for phase three on May 20.
[content-5] If you’ve never witnessed groups of well-dressed strangers traipsing aimlessly about the city, and want in on the surprise fun, here’s the lowdown:
Every guest is to wear all white (no foolin’ we saw a gal with light blue earrings get turned away a couple of years ago). You can get creative with your sartorial choices, but keep it elegant and classy.
Guests must bring their own food, table, chairs, and table settings. You must clean up all of your things before leaving the party location at the end of the night. Everything you bring (other than, well, the food) must be white.
You can bring a picnic basket with your feast, plus proper stemware and white dinnerware. If you’re like ‘nah that’s a lot of planning’, there is also a catered picnic basket option which can be picked up onsite. Reserve your basket through the e-store.
Libations are limited to Champagne or wine. Beer and hard liquor are prohibited. Guests cannot bring their own booze; if you wanna sip, you must order your bottles through the e-store.
Ed note: Two of the event’s co-hosts, CP advertising director Blair Barna and sales account executive Lauren Kesmodel, are involved in the event’s production independently of City Paper. [embed-1]
