Charleston’s Silicon Harbor is getting its own event next April in the form of the Dig South Conference and Expo, which celebrates the Southeastern knowledge economy. Don’t know what the knowledge economy is? A Stanford University professor defines it as “production and services based on knowledge-intensive activities that contribute to an accelerated pace of technical and scientific advance, as well as rapid obsolescence.” Yeah, that’s what we thought.

If that definition failed to clear things up, just take a look at Dig’s lineup. They have more than 90 groups set to present at the three-day conference, including national companies like Facebook, Twitter, and as well as local companies like Lunch & Recess, Benefitfocus, Blackbaud, SPARC, and Gil Shuler Graphic Design.

The broad focus is on creativity and digital innovation, with conference sessions exploring “big ideas, innovative mobile platforms and all things digital,” like  social media, e-commerce, digital strategy, marketing, video, digital publishing, music industry trends, and much more, according to a release. Besides the conference, there will be a technology and creative industry expo and a sideshow featuring bands and comedy.

If you plan to attend, now’s a good time to get your tickets. Through Dec. 7, you can get early-bird tickets and exclusive opportunities via Kickstarter. The event will take place April 12-14 at various venues in downtown Charleston.
