The Race for the Cure happens Saturday morning, which has us thinking about all the events surrounding breast cancer awareness month. Here’s a rundown of food-oriented specials you ought to know about.
The Charleston Medical Spa will be holding a silent auction on Wed. Oct. 20, 5-8 p.m. and many restaurants have donated their services. Proceeds go to Susan G. Komen.
Eat a Cupcake for the Cure at Cupcake, and they’ll donate $1 to Susan G. Komen. This delicious little morsel has pink vanilla cake and cream cheese icing topped with a pink sugar heart (and it looks a lot like a boob).
The Jasmine Porch and The Ocean Room restaurants out on Kiawah are hosting the month-long Dining in Pink fundraiser for the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center. Each restaurant will have a number of tables set with pink tablecloth indicating that 50 percent of the table’s total revenue will be donated to the breast cancer research program.
UPDATE: Throughout the month of October the staff of Guy Harvey’s Island Grill has been selling 20 inch pink ribbons. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of the ribbons will be presented to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Lowcountry affliate when Guy Harvey himself visits in early November.
