Eddie Bush

The Lowcountry Splash, one of Charleston’s annual swim events, celebrates its 10th anniversary with the inaugural Race to Rock concert on Sat. May 28 at Wild Wing Café in Mt. Pleasant.

Popular country/rock singer/guitarist Eddie Bush and his band the Mayhem will headline the show. Bush has a special connection to Lowcountry Splash through his late brother Alex, who frequently participated in the swim. Alex’s life was cut short in a car accident late last year. He was a student at the Charleston School of Law at the time. Eddie created the Alex Bush Memorial Scholarship Fund this year to help give other law students financial support.

“I believe it’s a natural fit joining the Alex Bush Memorial Scholarship with the Lowcountry Splash,” says Bush. “Both are dedicated to helping young people achieve the best life can offer. I was flabbergasted when I found out, after I signed on, that Alex had participated in the Splash a couple years in a row, and apparently loved it.” Bush adds that the event is “a positive way to remember both Alex and Logan.”

The Lowcountry Splash benefits the Logan Rutledge Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization. The Race to Rock serves as a joint fundraiser for both organizations. Admission is free. Donations are appreciated.
