Charleston will have to bid local trio A Decent Animal farewell in a few weeks. The indefatigable rock/roots/experimental band — singer/guitarist Jonathan Nicholson, bassist Richard Weld, and drummer George Baerreis — are heading to San Francisco in late March. “Jonathan is from San Francisco, and he’s dying’ to get back there,” says Weld. “We’re all looking for a change in scenery as well. It’s an opportunity to try something new and get some exposure on the West Coast.”

[image-1]A Decent Animal recently toured with Folly-based Sub Pop act Band of Horses in support of their recent six-song mini-album, The Rabbit Hole EP. While not yet signed to a record label, they did recently put ink to paper with N.Y.-based booking agency Inland Empire.

A Decent Animal perform this week, opening for metal/rock duo Jucifer at the Music Farm on Sat. Feb. 9. Their official “farewell show” is set for Sat. March 15 at the Pour House. Go go go … (dig this shot from Badjon Photography’s Jonathan Stout!)
