A woman who reportedly jumped May 18 from a second-tier balcony has died, Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal confirmed this evening.

Patricia L. Sizemore, 38, of West Ashley was accused May 12 of two first-offense felony counts of controlled substance violations and two felony counts of distributing controlled substances near a school. Cash bond was set for $125,000 on May 13.

Five days later about 12:40 p.m. while an inmate at the jail, she reportedly jumped from a second story balcony, according to an incident report. The State Law Enforcement Division later was asked to investigate.

On Friday afternoon, Sizemore passed away, O’Neal said.

Earlier Friday, authorities confirmed they had dismissed four felony charges Thursday after Sizemore’s fall at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

“According to the sheriff’s office, it doesn’t appear she is in a state to be prosecuted,” Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson told the City Paper Friday afternoon.

Andrew Knapp, a spokesman for the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, said, “While the resident was being treated at the hospital following the incident, her four charges were dismissed, and she was released from CCSO custody.”

Sizemore’s attorney could not be reached for comment.
