An olive oil shop opened this week at 316 King St., and it’s called — obviously — The Olive Oil Shop. Proprietor Steven Horvath also owns the Olive Oil Shop in Lake Geneva, Wisc. where he’s had tremendous success in that store’s first year of existence. The cute little Charleston shop is located across from Mellow Mushroom and features a wide array of olive oils that are imported from all over the world and bottled in the shop. They also have a variety of flavor infusions such as chipotle and white truffle. They also stock balsamic vinegars that have been aged up to 18 years. There are rows of steel barrels with little spigots ready for sampling, (although you have to use your finger to taste it as they don’t offer bread to dip in the oil). They also carry jarred olive salads, Brussels sprouts, roasted red peppers, and dry rubs like black Hawaiian sea salt and fisherman’s rub. The price range is about $10-$30 depending on the ingredients, and they are open seven days a week from 10 a.m.-6p.m. for all of your olive oil needs. (843) 277-2707
