After months of being taunted by a “coming soon” sign on Upper King, Glazed opened its doors earlier this week. The gourmet doughnut shop, located at 481 King St., is the brainchild of Allison Smith, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of Charleston, and her software developer boyfriend Mark Remi.

We stopped in to snap a few shots of the place and pick up a box of doughnuts to bring back to the office. We tried the Berry Lavender, Pumpkin, Apple Bacon Fritter, and Maple Bacon (their most popular so far). Prices range from $1.50-$2.99, which is quite a good deal considering they make everything — including the toppings, fillings, and dough — from scratch.
