For RiverDogs, returning to normal is anything but

By Skyler Baldwin  | After the unexpected 19-month shutout of minor league pro ball games at The Joe, the Charleston RiverDogs are getting back to normal with a promotional schedule that’s anything but.

Several core weekly promos will be back this year, including Boeing Red Shirt Fridays, Thirsty Thursdays and Wicked Wednesdays, team officials say. That will give longtime fans and returning stadium-goers a comforting vibe of normalcy, but the team also has a lineup of wacky one-off events with fun you won’t want to miss.

Mark your calendars for these games:

Plant Propagation Party. Stadium-goers will get to enjoy the game with a living, breathing friend that they don’t really have to clean up after — a plant.

Viral Trend.  Frightening choice of words aside, this event looks back at some of the lifestyle trends that went viral over the last few decades. Remember Gangnam Style? So do the RiverDogs. This is one we all might want to forget, but we’d love to boogie-oogie-oogie all night long.

Kim and Kris Anniversary Celebration. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries came together 10 years ago in a sanctified marriage lasting 72 magical days. In recognition of this  achievement, the team will celebrate several things that lasted surprisingly longer than the aforementioned marriage.

Toilet Paper Night. Remember when toilet paper was a hot commodity in the early days of the pandemic? The RiverDogs do too, and they want to help wipe those memories away. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will get their very own roll of toilet paper.
