This is being promoted as Lydia’s sensual and perverse homage to sadism, spirituality, and fulfillment. Sold!
Titles with the Word Fountain, Liars. (Fri. Nov. 16)
Liars are one of the best current bands going in my opinion. This new one is a sequel to their 2017 release and I’m stoked to see how they progress.
To Touch the Milky Way, Black Tape for a Blue Girl (Fri. Nov. 16) The 12th album from this ethereal project. I’ve heard one single so far and it was beautiful. Seems like good, early winter music.

Monster Music & Movies
Black Velvet, Charles Bradley. (Fri. Nov. 9) Popular music has had a big problem in recent years with artists with a “classic” sound being pigeonholed as retro and sounding a little artificial. Daptone Records never had this issue. Their roster of artists are tough, gritty, and authentic, with a sound that everyone can embrace. The late Charles Bradley, along with Sharon Jones, was chief among them. Imagine what Otis Redding might sound like at age 68. Now go pick up his final recordings, and earlier ones too.
Chapter II, Vintage Trouble. (Fri. Nov. 9) Imagine if James Brown were the singer for Led Zeppelin. That’s the common description of VT. They’re fun and have solid chops. Perhaps they’re harder to take seriously than someone like Charles Bradley, but worth a listen. Very curious to see how they’ve evolved, if they have. Might not matter either way.
Lillywhite Sessions, Ryley Walker. (Fri. Nov. 16) Tribute to the unreleased Dave Matthews album by the Chicago singer and guitarist. I’m indifferent to DMB, but Ryley Walker impressed me with 2015’s Primrose Green, which reminded me of Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks. That’s a lot coming from this cynic. I’m now a believer. Anything RW puts out, I’ll add to my collection.
