There are a lot of fabulous things about Charleston. The parking situation downtown is not one of these things. But have heart, friends, the parking deck at 93 Queen Street is offering free parking on Saturdays through Labor Day.

Consider this the City’s gift to shoppers who brave the construction and roadwork to shop their way through the Lower King Antique District. In case the traffic cones deter you at first sight, you should know that there are more than 50 shops and restaurants down in those parts including Berlin’s, Plum Elements, and Alpha Dog Omega Cat. What better way to spend the money you save on parking than in one of these shops getting yourself a new outfit or your dog a yummy treat.

As always, parking meters on Sunday are free. This oughta give us all a chance to head downtown during the weekend.
