MUSC Health is now conducting free rapid testing for COVID-19 in Charleston International Airport’s new daily parking garage at 1:30-4:30 p.m. each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday beginning Dec. 15.

Testing uses a high-sensitivity nasal swab and yields results within 15-30 minutes. Patients will be notified of their results by email. The mobile testing site offers drive-thru testing.

Registration is required before receiving your test; patients can register online at iflychs.saferestart.net. Patients under 18 years old need consent from a parent or guardian present.

It’s important for the public to be able to access testing as the state and nation continues to gear up for its vaccination distribution plan, especially heading into the holidays, health professionals said.

“We strongly encourage people who are traveling for the holidays to get tested before they do so,” said MUSC Health CEO Patrick J. Cawley in a press release. “Testing now can make a significant difference in whether or not our hospitals become overwhelmed in the weeks ahead.”

Those coming in for testing are asked to wear a mask regardless of symptoms as well as to bring a valid picture ID and insurance card (if applicable). MUSC Health is required to bill patients’ insurance provider if they have one; however, no patients will be responsible for any costs associated with testing per the CARES Act.
