TUESDAY. Kick off your week with this month’s poetry reading from the Charleston Poetry Series. Then head over to see Alabama band The Banditos at the Tattooed Moose for their craft beer Tuesdays. Or break out your washboard to scratch along with locals Megan Jean and the Klay Family Band at the Recovery Room.
WEDNESDAY. Nostalgic for a time when you could drink to excess? Share at Charleston Tell at Voodoo Tiki Bar and Lounge. True stories (or so they claim) are told with this month’s focus, “First we drink, and then…”
THURSDAY. Charleston just wants to make you feel good. Keep the goodies god gave ya’ with some Free Breast Screenings. Once those sweater puppies are good and safe, take care of the rest of your body at Live Local Fest with free wellness samples, demonstrations, and music to soothe the ears (as long as you’re a Lowcountry Local First member).
FRIDAY. Fables, stilts, and forest-protecting mythical creatures are all free for an adult viewing in Men of the Mountain. Bring the kids if you have a little change to spare for their $2 admission. Skip by the opening reception of Alan Jackson’s exhibit Filling the Frame to see some local art. Then at night, fill your eyes, belly, and ears at the Final Friday Art Cookout Extravaganza. We know, it’s a mouthful, but it’s guaranteed to be a tasty one.
SATURDAY. You have the kids Saturday morning, so why not take them to meet Laura Jenkins Thompson, children’s book author and illustrator. Then you can wear them out for the rest of the afternoon at the All-Day Pool Party. If you want in for free, make sure you’re a member of the St John’s Yacht Harbor, otherwise it’s five bucks.
SUNDAY. Don’t let your week end with the same old mimosa brunch routine. Mix it up with a meal from your favorite food truck while jamming out at the Maker’s Market. Pick up a brewski, check out locally crafted goodies, and unwind.
