We might be a day late and a dollar short (sorry about that), but it’s no big deal since all of these events are free, so you wouldn’t really need that dollar anyway.

TUESDAY. The CCPL presents Postcards from the Edge starring Meryl Streep, Shirley McLaine, and Dennis Quaid. The movie begins at 1 p.m. in the main library.

WEDNESDAY. College of Charleston Opera stings some melodies of Mozart along to the classic tale of The Three Little Pigs, a children’s opera featuring lederhosen-wearing piglets and a zoot-suit wearing wolf. CCPL hosts two shows at 9:15-10:15 a.m., and 10:30-11:30 a.m. Speaking of stages, Advanced Women takes over Theatre 220, Simons Center for the Arts, at 3-4:45 p.m., and again on Thursday at 2-3:45 p.m. This event is a staged reading of an award-winning play about two sisters who were famous authors at the time and advocates of women’s rights. To cap off the night, head to Freshfields Village at 9 p.m. and learn to “sweep the leg” with the original Karate Kid (not the one with Jackie Chan that should be renamed “Kung-Fu Kid”).

THURSDAY. Bring your kiddies to see Lunch Money: Live in Concert at 9:15 a.m., or 10:30 a.m. at the CCPL. Finally, an indie rock band just for kids. So long, Justin Bieber.

FRIDAY. Today is the last day to view Piccolo Spoleto’s Juried Art Exhibition at the Charleston Visitor Center. The show features 65 diverse works of art chosen my Margaret Howbach, the painting/2-S juror for the show, out of 272 submitted pieces.

SATURDAY. The weekend is so chock full of events, we have to suck it all in just to fit them in one paragraph. First up is the Bridal Sample Sale from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at Belle Couture Bridal. Gowns are 40-80 percent off, with designer brands starting at $1000. If wedding gowns doesn’t pertain to you, dermatologists from the MUSC Mobile Health Unit are offering free skin cancer screenings at Whirlin’ Waters in Wannamaker Park from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. If fashion tickles your fancy, Eye Level Art: 103 hosts Holy City Artists and Fleas, an open market featuring artists, vintage clothing brokers, fashion and jewelry designers, and more. This event is from noon-8 p.m. and continues through Sunday. At 1-4 p.m., celebrate National Marina Day with the U.S. Coast Guard at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina where there will be food, drinks, and music from The Larry David Project. The Air Force Wind Ensemble makes an appearance in Edgar Allen Poe Library to perform some recent pop songs to patriotic tunes. Finally, Piccolo hosts a finale so huge, we had to break it into two parts. Part one begins in Brittlebank Park from 12-8 p.m. where a diversity of culture in music and dancing, and much more. Part two moves the party to the Joe Riley Stadium from 8-9:30 p.m. where the evening is capped off with MotownMania and fireworks.

SUNDAY. The Robert Ivey Ballet presents The Giving Tree, a classic story about a tree’s love and a boy’s selfishness. Robert Ivey begins the narration at 2 p.m. in Bishop Gadsden. Then, the Summerville Baptist Church presents the Palmetto Bronze Spring Concert featuring a handbell group playing music by The Beatles and Henry Mancini, and more.
