Well, freeloaders, there may be lots of holiday cheer and cookies to go around, but sadly free events seem to be as scarce as a white Christmas. Here’s what we managed to round up, but you may just want to drown your sorrows with egg nog — or an alcoholic drink that’s actually delicious.

Monday Shop for some last minute Christmas shopping done at happy happy JOY JOY.

Tuesday Get your trivia on at a slew of trivia games around town. There’s one at Sparians, Cutty’s, and Home Team. Santa likes brains, in a non-zombie way.

Wednesday All doniminations are welcome at the Citadel Christmas party — and there’s a toy drive to help share some Christmas joy to all those in the Lowcountry.

Thursday Head to Riverfront Park and see the National Outdoor Sculpture Competition.

Spike some nog and test out your singing voice with karaoke at Art’s.

Friday Laugh off some Christmas dinner at Bushido’s On a Roll Comedy Show.

And while adopting a pup or cat isn’t free, snuggling with them is. Good thing the Charleston Animal Society will be at the PetSmart in Mt. P.

Saturday Celebrate Kwanza at St. Julian Devine Community Center with a parade and liberation ceremony.

Sunday Sunday night blues need not happen when you’ve got Tin Roof’s Open Mic Comedy night. Stave off the work-week sadness with some local comedians.
