A Del Shores play that birthed the campy 2000 cult-classic film and subsequent cable TV show, Sordid Lives is the story of a Southern family comically struggling through the death of their matriarch, who died after tripping over her lover’s wooden leg. The Footlighters encourage the audience to expect “big hair, big hearts, and big laughs abound in this hysterical white trash comedy.” There’s daughters Latrelle and LaVonda fighting over their mother’s send-off. Meanwhile, Latrelle continues to deny her son Ty’s sexuality. Their brother, Earl, spends his days in a mental institution dressed like Tammy Wynette and fighting off the advances of his female doctor.
