Frothy Beard used its mascot Finn to announce its expansion to Summerville | Frothy Beard Instagram

Frothy Beard Brewing Company will expand to Summerville this summer, the West Ashley brewery announced Tuesday morning. Frothy Beard Off World, the name given to the brewery’s second location, will take over the space currently occupied by Homegrown Brewhouse, located at 117 S. Main St.

The brewery, which opened in North Charleston in 2013 before moving to its current location on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard in 2017, used its mascot Finn to make the big announcement on social media:

“With the goal of building a new Frothy Beard colony, Finn recently blasted off from his brewery headquarters in the West Ashley region of Charleston, South Carolina. Today Finn landed off-world in a new land identified as Summerville, South Carolina where he will establish a second Frothy Beard taproom and kitchen on the square,” the post read.

The 40-tap Summerville Square location will feature several Frothy Beard staples and a rotating menu of guest brews, according to a press release. Frothy Beard will make a few renovations to the kitchen, co-owner Michael Biondi told the City Paper, and “will serve a different menu concept than the West Ashley location, including a Sunday brunch menu,” a press release said.

“Over the past eight years, we’ve been proud to be a member of South Carolina’s burgeoning craft beer industry, riding the ups and downs of owning and operating a craft brewery,” Biondi said in the release. “Now, we’re extremely excited to expand to a second location, and I’d like to thank the fans who’ve stuck with us since the beginning and the new ones who’ve joined us along the way for making this expansion possible.”

Frothy Beard Off World is slated to open in June, and the location will operate as Homegrown Brewhouse until the facility has been converted.
