Think “going green” is solely about investing in a Hybrid and buying those funny-looking light bulbs? Green Drinks Charleston is working hard to change your mind by hosting events that are not only eco-friendly, but fun.

Sunday, the group threw a block party at Fuel. The open-air restaurant and bar was packed with environmentally-conscious patrons, who enjoyed a complete brunch menu and drink specials while they learned about how to reduce waste and help with green initiatives. Cocktails made with 360 Vodka were doled out for a mere $3.60, with appropriately named concoctions including the S.O.S. (Save Our Seas) and Peach Tree Hugger. The Missouri-based distillery is completely green and Earth-friendly, from production to marketing to manufacturing.

Cyrus Buffum of Charleston Waterkeeper joined in on the day’s activities. Green Drinks will be contributing a percentage of the proceeds to the nonprofit organization, hence the event’s water party theme. Those who remembered their bathing suits flew down a giant waterslide inflated in the middle of the parking lot, as clothed onlookers gazed with jealousy in the heat of the Charleston sun.

Pleasant Details was also on hand, stunning guests with demonstrations of their seemingly oxymoronical waterless carwashes. Weigh Station contributed with smooth jams, capping off the day of entertainment and relaxation, all benefiting a good, and green, cause.
