Speaking of the Charleston Ballet Theatre, I noticed a poster at the troupe’s King Street studios last night promoting an upcoming performance. Gala Night at the Oscars (Feb. 15) looks like it’s going to be as glamorous as movies that inspired its choreography: Pan’s Labyrinth, The Queen, An Inconvenient Truth (well, not that glamorous; hopefully sans Mr. Gore), Little Miss Sunshine, and The Devil Wears Prada. I was very impressed by CBT choreographer Jill Eathorne-Bahr’s The Seven Deadly sins last year. It was highly theatrical, in ways beyond my expectation. So I’m really looking forward to seeing what she does with the Oscars.
