Now this is what we call a worthwhile trek.
Limehouse Produce is promoting the Wadmalaw Fugly along with a variety of other local heirloom tomatoes during the height of the tomato growing season.
From now until July 12, the Heirloom Tomato Trek encourages diners to hit up participating restaurants (Coda del Pesce, FIG, Glass Onion, High Cotton, Old Village Post House, Peninsula Grill, Queen Anne’s Revenge, Rivertowne Country Club, Slightly North of Broad, and Trattoria Lucca), order up the signature heirloom tomato dish or drink that’s being featured, snap a picture of it, and upload it to Facebook. Oh, and don’t forget to savor that tomato dish.
Fans will choose the best dish and the winner will get 100 pounds of heirloom tomatoes.
And I have it on good authority (ie. Instagram) that the tomato tarte tatin has reappeared on the FIG menu, if that’s your jam.
