[image-1]As the recent The Real World frenzy has illustrated, once the rumor mill gets going there’s no stopping it. But we decided to try. So here’s what we know about whether or not MTV’s long-running reality show is considering filming a season in Charleston.

Three weeks ago, the Charleston City Paper received an email tip claiming that MTV had expressed interest in filming the next season of The Real World in Charleston. The emailer, Jordan Cooper, claimed his friend and Real World Portland cast member, Jessica McCain, planned to send a testimony to MTV urging them to film the reality show in Charleston. Cooper also asked that his email be forwarded to all local news outlets.

This past week, Jessica McCain returned our email saying she doesn’t know where the filming will be nor does she have any influence over decisions involving the new season of The Real World. The Holy City Sinner, who also wrote about the possibility of filming, says their MTV contact Rayna Schwartz has not confirmed any of The Real World Charleston rumors. The Post and Courier also named Schwartz as their MTV contact in the “Rumors flying about MTV’s Real World filming in Charleston” article published Wednesday, Aug. 7. An email to the P&C reporter, Allison Nugent, was not returned. Phone calls to Rayna Schwartz at MTV have also not been returned.

So there we have it. Looks like Charleston is about as likely as anywhere else to host the next season of The Real World
