The Gibbes Museum of Art is teaming up with the Center for Women in November for the Women in Art lecture series. Slated for three Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m., the series is intended to celebrate the contributions of women in art, ranging from artists to models to collectors to philanthropists. On Nov. 4, the topic is Sargent’s Women, which will explore John Singer Sargent’s relationship with women, including the infamous Madame X. On Nov. 11, learn about the Women of the Gibbes from Executive Director Angela Mack. On Nov. 18, hear from Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, the photographer behind the Gibbes’ current exhibit Daufuskie Island. Lectures are followed by a wine and cheese reception, and a book signing at the first and third events. Tickets are $20 per lecture or $55 for the series. If you’re a member of the Gibbes or CFW, prices are $10/$25. Call (843) 722-2706 x18 for more details.
