Handcraft Kitchen & Cocktails has named Derick Wade its new executive chef, and Johnson & Wales University graduate Victoria Martinez will serve as his sous chef. Wade joins the Mount Pleasant bar/restaurant after spending time at kitchens in Alaska, Hawaii, Russia and most recently Kiawah Island’s Tomasso, a press release said.
“We are delighted to have executive chef Derick Wade and sous chef Victoria Martinez join the Handcraft family, as their culinary talent and background will bring exciting things to us here in Mount Pleasant,” said Handcraft Kitchen & Cocktails general manager Daniel Farrell.
Under Wade and Martinez’s direction, Handcraft will “showcase different kinds of culinary influences such as Italian, Mediterranean, Greek, Spanish, Puerto Rican, Russian, Southern American and gastropub-style food,” Wade said.
“Both Victoria and I have a diverse culinary background,” Wade said. “I look forward to being a part of an establishment that gives my culinary team and I the opportunity to express our creative side through made-from-scratch dishes with the freshest ingredients multiple times throughout the year.”
