Most of Charleston’s Congressional representatives gave the Obama administration their best wishes in a Post and Courier story Tuesday. Even Jim DeMint, though likely gritting his teeth, was able to release a little of his pent up hospitality.
Sen. Jim DeMint credited the new president with being open-minded. “I believe he is sincere on his convictions to make government more transparent and accountable and expect that working relationship to continue during his presidency.”
The P&C got kind words from Congressman Gresham Barrett (apparently it’s very important that he’s never met Obama) as well as Congressman John Spratt — neither of whom represent Charleston. So what, you might ask, does local Congressman Henry Brown have to say about this moment in history?
Republican U.S. Rep. Henry Brown, whose 1st District includes the Charleston area, declined repeated requests for an interview.
