Charleston’s comedy open mics offer both a chance to hone your stand-up skills as well as an opportunity to enjoy up-and-coming (and established) local comedians. We put together a quick guide on some upcoming events where you can laugh it up, or get on stage to make other people laugh (with or at you, TBD).

Cutty’s
Cutty’s hosts two upcoming open mics on Tues. Aug. 8 and Tues. Aug. 22 with doors opening both nights at 7:30 p.m. Next Tuesday’s show is hosted by Scott Frank Aug. 22’s show is hosted by Hagan Chase Ragland. Both shows are free to attend and DJ’ed by Pat Nasty.

Frothy Beard Brewery
The West Ashley brewery is moving its monthly comedy night, hosted by local comic Shawna Jarrett, to Wednesdays starting August 2. Sign-ups start at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 8:30 p.m. The beer isn’t free… But the comedy is!

The Brick
If you’d rather improve your comedy skills downtown, head to the Brick. This Ann Street tavern features a weekly 8 p.m. open mic on Wednesdays, hosted by Charleston comedian Colleen Rast. Not enticed? There are prizes for the evening’s top three comics.

The Sparrow
This Park Circle bar serves up comedy with a side of beer every Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. Try your hand on stage, or simply have a good time. Any skill level is welcome.
