Remember searching beneath couch cushions and behind picture frames for those plastic eggs filled with candy on Easter Day? We know we do. This weekend, relive the fun with your kids at Easter egg hunts in parks from downtown to across the bridge. There’s plenty of adult fun too, with brunch from downtown to Mt. Pleasant.

Parents beware: This weekend is a second coming of Halloween, with candy give-outs in the form of chocolate bunnies and caramel filled eggs. Starting Friday, children are invited out to Martin Park, Johns Island Park, the Arthur Christopher Community Center, and the Thomas Johnson Playground for Easter egg hunting and games.

With Saturday comes the big leagues. Charleston’s Recreation Department has organized several Easter egg hunts this weekend, but the mother of them all is the Easter Eggstravaganza in Hampton Park. The event lasts from 11-4 and includes a climbing wall, face painters, jump castles, and more, not to mention a bunny parade with an appearance by the Easter Bunny.

There’s also the Easter Eggstravaganza at Middleton Place, the IOP Rec Center’s Easter Egg Hunt, and the West Ashley Easter Egg Hunt at Bees Ferry Landing Recreation Complex.  Freshfields will host an Easter Festival with live music, crafts, and the chance to take photos with the Easter Bunny.

And let’s not forget about the post-church festivities and Charleston Sunday favorite: Brunch. Sip on a spicy bloody mary or bubbly mimosa to celebrate the day and maybe nurse that hangover from Saturday night (it’s what Jesus would have wanted).

Tristan is offering a three course prix-fix brunch menu for $40 with mouth-watering options like zucchini bread french toast casserole and pork belly benedict.

Get two courses for $25 at Slightly North of Broad, or order off the seasonal brunch menu at Anson.

High Cotton’s Easter menu features your choice of an appetizer and entrée for $25, or $30 with a mimosa or dessert. Magnolias, Blossom, and the Old Village Post House are also offering special Easter menus.

And why settle for hunting Easter eggs or enjoying brunch when you can do both at once? Head to the Tin Roof for their Gospel Brunch and Adult Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday. Then chalk up this Easter as a success, sit back, and settle into springtime.
