[image-1] Making up 49.55 percent of the population (according to Google), it is our firm belief that every day should be international Women’s Day. Or, to make things fair, at least every other day. But, sadly, that is not the case. So make the most of the International Day we do have, March 8. Here are some ways to celebrate in Charleston:
Head to Lululemon downtown for a yoga class at 8 a.m. from local yoga teacher, Ashley Limehouse, followed by a sound bath from Liz Ramirez. Stick around for coffee and snacks from Greens & Grounds.
Ink Meets Paper hosts a Park Circle Biz Ladies Happy Hour for women business owners in Park Circle (although female business owners who don’t live in PC can come too) from 6-8 p.m. Drop by for snacks and wine and make a donation to My Sister’s House, a Charleston nonprofit that provides services and resources to empower victims and their children of domestic violence.
On Fri., March 8, treat yourself to something special at the Mindful Market from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Royal American. They’ll have vintage clothing, handmade goods, art, jewelry, tarot readings, and live music by Jamie Gray.
Ibu will be celebrating with “Fashioning Change“, a runway show of their ready-to-wear Ibu World collection and reception at the Gibbes Museum on Fri., Mar. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Snafu Brewing and The Pub on 61 will be teaming up this Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. for the release of a new beer called “Ain’t Nuthin’ But A She Thang.” — Moment of silence for this incredible name, everyone. — The beer is a lager made with raspberries and was the result of a collaboration between a group of women in Lee Distributors (part of Reyes Holding Group) who wanted to partner with a woman-owned brewery to create something new and exciting to celebrate women. It’s appropriate that woman-owned Pub on 61 hosts.
To celebrate Women’s Day any time, use Lowcountry Local First‘s business directory to support woman-owned businesses.
