The rise of Silicon Harbor has been well documented in recent years, but beyond BenefitFocus and Blackbaud, it’s easy to lose perspective of the scale of the area’s growing tech sector. A new interactive map from the guys at real estate web platform BoomTown charts the landscape of the local tech sector from Goose Creek to the tip of the peninsula.

Charleston Tech Map breaks down local technology companies into nine categories, including creative, defense, consulting, and software services. There are plenty of companies to be found downtown, but the map also reveals several clusters around the I-526 loop, including defense contractors south of the airport, the big boys on Daniel Island (BenefitFocus, Blackbaud, SPARC), and another dozen in Mount Pleasant around Long Point Rd. The map also highlights the handful of business incubators that have popped up in the area in the past few years.
