Supreme Court blocks Biden vaccine mandate
President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate, which would have been enforced by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), was struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court Thursday after a ruling determined that OSHA did not have the power to regulate public health.
South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster celebrated the ruling, which would have required employees with more than 100 worker to be vaccinated against COVID-19. McMaster was joined in celebration by the S.C. Chamber of Commerce.
South Carolina leaders have been heavily involved in the legal fight against the mandate, with McMaster having banned cabinet officials from enforcing the rule in November, and state Attorney General Alan Wilson filing several legal challenges against the measure.

South Carolina health officials reported 19,483 total cases of COVID-19 Jan. 14, with 15,409 confirmed. A total of 34 new deaths, 28 confirmed, were also reported.
With 65,721 tests reported Friday, 31.8% were confirmed positive.
