Attention local freaks: the crazy circus of ringleader Jim Rose‘s “Sideshow” is due in Charleston for a gig at the Music Farm on Sat. Aug. 8. Bizarre, darkly amusing, and entirely twisted, Rose and his eccentric troupe visit town in support of a new book titled Snake Oil: Life’s Calculations, Misdirections, and Manipulations — “an eclectic encyclopedia of the tricks behind the tricks.”

With a popular wrestler aboard, this summer’s road trip is being promoted as “The Jim Rose Circus vs. Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts Tour” — a “chair-gripping, head-turning event including the human dart board, loads of pretty girls, outrageous circus stunts, live scorpions, barbed wire, fistfights, and the worlds largest touring 22 foot Albino Burmese Python weighing in at 160 pounds.”

Openers include former WWE Sinn Bodhi (formerly KiZarny of WWE), Bebe the Circus Queen, and The Defilers. Tickets are available for $12 in advance. Check out and for more.
