d39f/1240860864-heartwings.jpgWe’ve seen her stuff around before, but local handbag designer Julie Wheat really caught our eye at last week’s Cirque de Couture fashion show at Chai’s. She shared a small “designer sale” area in the back of the room with other designers like Marysia and Rachel Gordon, and we were impressed with the great detailing on her bags. Her eco-friendly spring line was inspired by a winter surfing trip on Florida’s east coast. Check out Julie’s creations, which range from about $75-$150, at II Brunettes on Fri., May 1, from 4-7 p.m. She’ll be offering on-site custom designs, and the first 20 people will receive a free gift. Wine and appetizers will be served at the event.
